Details : Oxycodone is an effective analgesic for mild to moderate pain control, chronic pain syndromes and for treatment of terminal cancer pains. Five mg. of Oxycodone is equivalent to 30 mg. of Codeine when administered orally. It is equipotent to Morphine for control. 10 mg. of orally administered Oxycodone is equivalent to 10 mg. of subcutaneously administered Morphine.

Details : Hydrocodone is effective as antitussive and also used as analgesic. Hydrocodone is a more effective analgesic then codeine in acute musculoskeletal pain. Central nervous system side effects are less common with Hydrocodone than Codeine.

Details : Pholcodine has antitussive activity similar to, or somewhat greater than, that of Codein. Pholcodine appears to be devoid of addiction liability. In contrast to Codeine, Pholcodine is not metabolized to Morphine. Toxicity studies demonstrate a generally safer profile for Pholcodine than for Codeine.
